DESCRIPTION
Arduino, describes a set of boards that provide easy to use hardware and software that allows people to construct interactive projects using all manner of electronics. No prior knowledge is required to begin, tutorials and small projects exist to help introduce you to the vast features and possibilities that the board series offers. Before you know it you will be embarking on large and ambitious projects without any limits.
Based on the ATmega328P chipset the Lilypad(Arduino-Compatible) is a breadboard capable board that is similar in function to the Duemilanove board without the DC power jack and a different sized package. The smaller form allows it to be used in space limited projects while still offering the same power as larger packages. Unlike other versions of Arduino, the Lilypad is designed for advanced users, pin headers come unsoldered and will require programming with an external FTDI/USB to TTL serial convertor.
Offering a large range of input and outputs opens the board to be used in a large range of projects where the only limit is your imagination. The board can be connected up to all manner of sensors and switches as well as screens and LEDs, this allows for projects from automated watering systems to advanced robotics. Furthermore the Lilypad is designed as a wearable piece of electronics as such is suited to being sewn into textiles.
The board is programmed via the Arduino development software downloadable for FREE from their website. The software comes with a number of example codes to help introduce you to the system, we recommend trying the BLINK code example initially. If you require assistance please do not hesitate to contact us using one of the methods below.
The board is based on the Open Source Arduino project and follows the same exact specification. Please be aware that the board cannot be programmed without the use of an serial communication module.
