This module is ideally suited to adding GPS reception to your project. This module interprets the incoming GPS signal produces a coded output that can be connected to all manner of microcontrollers. Furthermore the unit can provide readings directly to a PC using the onboard mini-USB connection. The module is fully compatible with u-centre, which is freely available from the ublox site. This package comes packed with an antenna module to help boost the modules reception capabilities while offering flexibility to move away from windows and areas with direct view of the sky.
When combined with a microcontroller such as the Arduino it is possible to obtain longitude and latitude. The received signal will need further interpreting and is subject to finding a satellite signal. Interpretation is available in the case of the Arduino from a number of libraries which are able to produce a longitude and latitude (for example the library Tiny GPS).
